Banco Colpatria needed to meet new security conditions placed by the Colombian financial market control body by which financial institutions were required to provide their internet users with a security mechanism which guaranteed that authentication credentials would not be captured while logging on to the virtual bank.

Banco Colpatria was also looking for a mechanism which would secure the user’s PC, increasing the security in these machines in such a way that customers would be encouraged to use the internet for their transactions. “We had studied several options, but none fulfilled the design characteristics that the solution proposed by Azuan Technologies had,” commented Ariel Bejarano, engineer and project director for Banco Colpatria.

The bank chose to implement Azuan® AZtart because it was the only solution that had all of the following characteristics:

Today the use of the solution has grown exponentially and protects over 8,000 users in personal banking. The success has been so great that the solution has been adopted by the Corporate Virtual Banking division, combining token functionality provided by Azuan® AZHWID.
